MerchantKit

Terms of Service

The terms that apply when a merchant installs or uses MerchantKit.

Effective date: July 17, 2026

Agreement

These Terms of Service govern access to and use of MerchantKit: Store Tools, a Shopify merchant toolkit for checkout rules, storefront warnings, store-health checks, and everyday operations.

By installing, accessing, or using MerchantKit, you agree to these Terms on behalf of the Shopify store or organization you represent.

The service

MerchantKit provides an embedded Shopify admin, payment customization rules, warning rule management, Online Store theme app blocks, storefront app proxy endpoints, consent logging, cart attributes, product or variant metafield sync, and checkout validation support.

Modules marked Coming soon are roadmap descriptions, not active services, and may change before release.

Features may change over time as the app is improved. We may add, modify, suspend, or remove functionality when needed to maintain or improve the service.

Merchant responsibilities

You are responsible for the content of your warning rules, including titles, messages, checkbox labels, internal descriptions, targeting, display settings, and any custom CSS.

You are responsible for confirming that your use of MerchantKit is appropriate for your products, storefront, customer notices, refund policies, shipping terms, product restrictions, and applicable laws.

MerchantKit does not provide legal advice and does not guarantee that a warning, acknowledgment, or consent log will satisfy any specific legal, regulatory, marketplace, payment, insurance, or chargeback requirement.

Storefront setup

For warnings to appear, you must add the appropriate MerchantKit theme app blocks to your Shopify theme and configure placements and targets correctly.

Checkout blocking requires both a required acknowledgment rule and the relevant Shopify validation functionality to be enabled and deployed. Storefront JavaScript and checkout validation may behave differently depending on theme customizations and Shopify platform limitations.

Acceptable use

You may not use MerchantKit to upload unlawful, deceptive, harmful, infringing, or malicious content.

You may not attempt to interfere with the app, bypass security controls, overload the service, reverse engineer restricted parts of the app, or use MerchantKit in a way that violates Shopify policies.

Data and privacy

MerchantKit processes app, shop, configuration, and consent information as described in the Privacy Policy.

You should not enter sensitive personal information into warning rules, app settings, custom CSS, product tags, or other free-form fields unless you have a lawful basis and a clear operational need.

Availability and support

We aim to keep MerchantKit available and reliable, but the service may be interrupted by maintenance, Shopify platform changes, network issues, hosting issues, or other events outside our control.

MerchantKit storefront blocks are designed to fail open when the app backend is unavailable, so the merchant storefront is not intentionally broken by an app API failure.

Fees

If paid plans, usage charges, or subscription fees are introduced or configured through Shopify, billing will be handled according to the plan and Shopify billing flow presented to you.

Any refunds, credits, or billing adjustments are handled at our discretion unless otherwise required by law or Shopify policy.

Termination

You may stop using MerchantKit by disabling the app, removing theme blocks, or uninstalling the app from your Shopify store.

We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms, misuse the service, create security risk, or if Shopify requires action related to your app installation.

Disclaimers and limitation of liability

MerchantKit is provided on an as-is and as-available basis to the maximum extent permitted by law.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, punitive, or lost-profit damages, or for claims arising from merchant-provided warning content, theme customizations, Shopify platform behavior, or third-party services.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The updated Terms will be posted on this page with a new effective date.

Continued use of MerchantKit after changes become effective means you accept the updated Terms.
